Site Preparation
Grading and leveling pads on river-bottom and hillside lots so they're ready to build on.
Learn about site prepBeverly sits along the Muskingum River in northwest Washington County, where flat river-bottom fields give way to wooded hillsides and long gravel farm lanes. Ridgeline Excavation clears, grades and drains acreage here so it holds up to the water and the weather.
Out near the river, flat bottomland holds water well into spring, and runoff from the hills above pools against foundations, barns and driveways. We grade for positive fall and cut swales and culverts so water moves off your land instead of through it. Getting the pitch right is the difference between a dry building pad and a muddy one every March.
Step back from the river and the ground climbs fast. Beverly's hillsides are thick with timber, brush and stumps, and many buildable lots sit on slopes that need clearing before anything else happens. We open up the tree line, pull stumps and grub roots, and leave you with a clean, walkable site.
Much of the acreage around Beverly is reached by a single lane that runs from the road to the back fields. We install and refurbish gravel drives and farm lanes, building a base that sheds water instead of rutting out after the first hard rain.
We serve Beverly and the surrounding river-valley towns of Waterford, Lowell, Stockport and McConnelsville, along with the wider Mid-Ohio Valley. See our full service areas or check our frequently asked questions. We also work nearby in Marietta and Caldwell.

Learn about site prepTimber, brush and stump removal that opens wooded hillsides and field edges for use.
Learn about land clearingSwales, French drains and culverts that move river-bottom water off your property.
Learn about drainageUsually the problem is that water isn't being moved away, so it has nowhere to go but the low spots. We grade for fall and add swales or a French drain so water sheet-flows off instead of pooling. Most wet-pond problems come down to regrading.
We run the machines right down the lane, and if it's rutted from weather we'll dress the base as we go so we leave it as good as we found it. Narrow lanes aren't a problem — we plan access before we ever start digging.
Shale breaks up readily, but a rocky site means more machine work than one that's all soil. We'll tell you what we're seeing as we open the ground, and we'll grade on top of it so your pad or lane stays sound.
Yes. We clear the slope, cut a level pad, and put in the drainage and access a hillside build needs. Sloped sites are common on the Beverly side of the river, and we plan each one for how the water will run before we cut anything.
