Culvert Installation & Concrete Removal

A culvert too small for the water it carries is a driveway waiting to wash out — and a cracked concrete slab is a liability waiting for a trip. We install and replace culverts sized to the job, and we break out and haul away old concrete.

Why a crushed culvert floods your driveway

Most driveway washouts in the Mid-Ohio Valley trace back to a culvert that was undersized from the start or has collapsed under traffic. When the pipe can't carry a spring rain, water backs up, spills over the road, and cuts a channel through the stone. A crushed pipe blocks flow entirely, and the water takes the driveway with it.

Culvert installation starts with sizing the pipe to the water it carries. We measure the drainage area upstream, watch how the water runs in a rain, and choose a diameter that handles peak flow. Then we set the pipe on a compacted bed at the right grade, add headwalls or wing walls where the banks need them, and backfill so traffic can't crush it.

Culvert cleanout vs. culvert replacement

Not every failing culvert needs dug out. If the pipe is sound but packed with silt, a culvert cleanout restores flow for a fraction of the work — we flush out the blockage and confirm water runs through. When the pipe is crushed, rusted out, or too small, culvert replacement is the honest fix: we excavate the old pipe and set a correctly sized one so the crossing drains for years.

Concrete removal and pad removal

Old concrete doesn't rot away on its own — a broken sidewalk, cracked patio, or abandoned slab just sits there getting worse. We bring in the breaking equipment, reduce the slab to manageable pieces, and haul it off so you're not left with a pile of rubble.

Concrete pad removal goes further. Once the slab is out, we regrade, spread topsoil, and leave level ground ready to seed, build on, or turn back into yard.

  • Driveway culvert installation and replacement sized for real runoff
  • Culvert cleanout to restore flow without digging up a sound pipe
  • Sidewalk, patio, and foundation slab removal with full cleanup
  • Concrete pad removal followed by regrading and restoring the ground

Common Questions About Culverts & Concrete

How do I know if my culvert is too small?

Watch what happens in a hard rain. If water backs up behind the crossing, spills over the driveway, or the road erodes after every storm, the pipe isn't carrying what it needs to. We'll measure the runoff area and tell you what size fits.

Is it cheaper to clean out a culvert than replace it?

When the pipe is still sound, yes — a culvert cleanout is far less work than full replacement. But if the pipe is crushed or rusted through, cleaning won't hold, and replacement is the fix that lasts.

Can you remove an old concrete pad and leave the ground ready to use?

Yes. We break out the slab, haul away the pieces, and regrade with fresh topsoil so it's ready for seed or a new build.

Do you replace driveway culverts without tearing up the whole drive?

Usually. We excavate across the crossing, set the new pipe, and backfill in compacted lifts so the driveway is restored to full strength where we worked.
