Dirt Bike Tracks & ATV Trail Systems

A track that rides well in July and doesn't turn into a mud pit in March takes more than pushing dirt into piles. We build practice tracks, backyard motocross loops, and ATV and UTV trail systems that drain, hold their shape, and stay rideable through the seasons.

Reading the Land for a Track Layout

The best tracks work with the ground, not against it. We walk your property and read the natural lines — where the high ground drains and where the slope gives you a natural tabletop. On the ridge lots and hollows common across southeast Ohio, the elevation changes that make mowing a headache are exactly what make a track fun to ride.

Jumps and Berms That Drain

A jump that holds water in its face erodes from the inside out. We build jumps and berms with a compacted clay core and a crowned top that sheds water sideways, so the landing ramp doesn't pool at its base. Berms get a slight outward tilt so rain sheets across the surface into a swale behind the turn instead of into the turn itself.

Topsoil Stripping and Shaping

We strip the topsoil first and set it aside. Topsoil is organic and spongy — leave it under your track and the surface will pump and rut the first time it gets wet. We strip down to the mineral clay that packs hard and holds shape, build up from there, then spread the saved topsoil back onto the surrounding ground.

Backyard Practice Track vs. Full Trail Network

A practice track is compact and built for repetition — short loops, a few feature sections you hit every lap, everything within sight of the truck. A trail network across acreage is more about routing: threading a wider route through timber, across draws, and around property lines with drainage that works across elevation changes.

Keeping Clear of Wells and Septic

Before we cut any track line, we locate and mark every wellhead, septic tank, and leach field on the property. A track too close to a septic field compacts the soil and can damage drain lines. We set back from everything underground, and we call 811 before digging so utilities get marked.

Common Questions About Dirt Bike Tracks

Can you build a track on sloping, wooded ground?

Yes — that's most of the properties we work on. Slope gives you natural elevation changes for jumps and rhythm sections. We clear the line first, then cut the track into the hillside so it drains across the surface.

How do the jumps hold up to rain and freeze-thaw?

We build jumps with compacted clay cores and crowned tops so water sheets off instead of soaking in. A properly built face freezes and thaws without breaking apart because the water never sits in it.

How much room do I need for a practice track?

A rideable loop with a couple of features fits on an acre or two; a larger track with multiple jump lines might want three to five.
